Dogs, Cancer, and the Color Run
Today has been fantastic.
My boyfriend woke me up to go puppy shopping (for him, I already own a dog). He found the sweetest year-old dog, and now I’m babysitting since he had to go to work immediately after. She is ADORABLE and currently sleeping next to me.
AND when he left I talked to my mom and she should be having her double mastectomy in about a month! We are so excited to move forward with the whole process. Her first surgery was moved back four months, but the time is nearly upon us.
Oh AND I started a Color Run New Orleans team! My father passed away in November from heart disease (the precise reason is not known, but he had had two heart attacks, atherosclerosis, and had to have a defibrillator) three weeks before his 48th birthday. The Color Run marks half-way between his birthday and his death, so I decided to run to remember him. Also training for it will help put me on the right track to heart disease prevention. I’ve always wanted to be a runner.
AND to hold me accountable and for support, I invited a bunch of my high school soccer teammates and many are interested in being on the team. *exhales* I’m pretty happy. It’s amazing how good you feel when you take control of things and really reach for your goals.
